Mechanical vs. Chemical pretreatment

Mechanical pre-treatment

Mechanical pre-treatment or sandblasting is the appropriate way to pre-treat all kinds of metals. The pre-treatment cleans the metal and also removes oxides to ensure good adhesion of the coating and consequently a smooth and beautiful end result. V coat opts for sandblasting because the highest degree of cleanliness is obtained with this type of mechanical pre-treatment. This benefits the quality of the coating. Blasting is done using stainless steel grains. The maximum dimensions of the products we can treat are 6000 mm x 2000 mm x 2000 mm and have a maximum weight of 1000 kg.

Chemical pre-treatment

In addition, V coat also does chemical pre-treatment, more applicable for the adhesion of powder coatings on all kinds of metals. Depending on which metal surface, different types of chemicals are used. The aim is to make the material suitable for the adhesion of the organic coatings.

Pre-treatment quality

At V coat, we consciously invest in pre-treatment suitable for multi-metal such as (galvanised) steel, aluminium and stainless steel. This entire process is Qualisteelcoat-certified! Thanks to this certificate, we guarantee quality at V coat.
